OVERVIEW
Welcome to the Florida Academy of Family Physician's Disaster preparedness Webpage. Since disasters occur at all times, types, and sizes, we must be prepared to respond to all such hazards in a manner consistent with the overarching National Response Framework (NRF). Through the concept of operations provided by the National Incident Management System (NIMS) all Federal, State, and Local Agencies prepare and respond to all hazards in the similar manner throughout the Nation.
Family Physicians are heavily integrated and invested within our community, and it behooves us all to become aware and/or take an active role in individual and community preparedness and response. Without proper preparation pre-event the resiliency is significantly diminished to the point of possible economic collapse for all affected. Thus, it is the intent of this Chair of the FAFP Disaster Preparedness Committee to first increase the level of awareness, and then if the FAFP Member so choose to get more involved with their community, assist them to that end.
Below are a list of Topics and under each topic there is a organizational link. To improve the effectiveness of this webpage any proactive suggestions are welcome.
