FAFP Resolution Submission Portal
FMA Resolution Deadline:
February 22, 2025
AAFP Resolution Deadline: May 26, 2025

In an effort to address issues in a timely fashion, members are encouraged to submit proposals year-round to be reviewed by the FAFP Board of Directors, which meets at least three times annually. Members are required to submit their resolution, or resolutions, by using the online submission form located on this page.

Resolutions may be submitted by any FAFP member in good standing (or “author”) for endorsement/approval by the FAFP board of directors and subsequent submission to the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) for either the Congress of Delegates (COD) or the National Conference of Constituency Leaders (NCCL), or the Florida Medical Association House of Delegates (HOD).  A maximum of three (3) resolutions for the AAFP or FMA may be submitted by an individual FAFP member for consideration by the FAFP Board of Directors.

Vetting Process

  • FMA HOD Resolutions will be forwarded to the FAFP Delegation Chair and Vice Chair to the FMA HOD, as appointed by the FAFP President, for review and guidance back to the author prior to being submitted for consideration by the FAFP Board.  Similar to a reference committee, the FAFP Delegation Chair and Vice Chair will provide the FAFP Board with a recommendation for adoption (with or without amendment) or not adoption based upon FAFP policy and current FMA policy (CLICK HERE for FMA Policy Compendium).

  • AAFP COD Resolutions will be forwarded to the FAFP Delegation to the AAFP COD (2 delegates and 2 alternate delegates) for review and guidance back to the author prior to being submitted for consideration by the FAFP Board.  Similar to a reference committee, the FAFP Delegation to the COD will provide the FAFP Board with a recommendation for adoption (with or without amendment) or not adoption based upon FAFP policy and current AAFP policy (login required).

  • AAFP National Conference of Constituency Leaders (NCCL) resolution authors, in the spirit of learning and collegiality, are highly encouraged to submit NCCL resolutions to the full FAFP NCCL delegation for review and feedback on the pre-conference virtual meeting held in advance of the meeting.  The virtual meeting will be organized by the NCCL mentor as appointed by the ExComm.  Resolution authors will be reminded that by default, said resolution(s) only represents the author’s views, not those of the FAFP.  FAFP's NCCL Delegation meets in early April annually - FAFP staff will coordinate.

Development Support

The FAFP will make available to members (via fafp.org) virtual resolution development resources created by the FAFP, AAFP, Chapters, AMA, or the FMA. Assistance from the delegations’ respective leadership or NCCL mentor can be requested by contacting FAFP staff (Jay Millson via jmillson@fafp.org).  Resolutions vetted and subsequently approved for submission to the FMA or AAFP may be amended as determined appropriate by the FAFP Board of Directors, regardless of the author's input (i.e., the resolution becomes the responsibility of the FAFP as a whole, not an individual, for representing accordingly).

Submission Deadlines

  •  FMA resolutions must be submitted by Friday February 22, 2025 (45 days prior to the FAFP Board spring meeting date of April 5).  Feedback from the FAFP Delegation Chair and Vice Chair to the FMA HOD will be provided no more than 20 days from submission with feedback to the author who, in turn, must submit the final resolution(s) to FAFP staff within 15 days of said feedback.  This will allow adequate time for including the resolution(s) into the FAFP Board agenda packet.

  • AAFP COD resolutions must be submitted by Monday May 26, 2025 (no later than 45 days prior to the FAFP Board summer board meeting date.  Feedback from the FAFP Delegation to the AAFP COD will be provided no more than 20 days from submission with feedback to the author who, in turn, must submit the final resolution(s) to FAFP staff within 15 days of said feedback.  This will allow adequate time for including the resolution(s) into the FAFP Board agenda packet.

  • NCCL resolution authors seeking FAFP feedback must submit their draft resolution(s) to the full NCCL delegation prior to the pre-meeting virtual call so as to ensure the item(s) is included on the pre-meeting agenda.

Emergency Resolutions

It is possible that an issue(s) will materialize after the stated deadlines and require consideration as an “emergency resolution.”  Any such resolution(s) developed after the deadlines specified above must be submitted to Jay Millson (jmillson@fafp.org) for presentation to the FAFP Executive Committee for consideration as an emergency resolution.  Due to timing, the Executive Committee has the authority to approve or disapprove emergency resolution(s) with or without the FAFP Board’s approval, or input from the FAFP Delegation to the FMA or the FAFP Delegation to the AAFP COD, based upon what is felt to be in the FAFP’s best interests.

Approved Resolutions

If a resolution is approved, FAFP staff will coordinate submission of all approved resolutions to the AAFP and/or FMA by the established deadlines.  Furthermore, coordination with the resolution authors and specific FAFP delegation chair for on-site support will also be facilitated by FAFP staff.
